Sohan Dasgupta, JD, PhD, is a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP.  Dr. Dasgupta practices litigation; investigations; regulatory and compliance matters; and international disputes.  He represents clients before the U.S. Supreme Court and elsewhere in the judiciary; before administrative agencies; and Congress and state legislatures.  Dasgupta successfully has represented clients before the Supreme Court, the lower courts, and Congress in high-profile matters.

Sohan Dasgupta served as Deputy General Counsel of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  He also served as Special Counsel of the United States Department of Education (ED).  In government, Sohan Dasgupta played a prominent leadership role in numerous consequential matters involving national security, intelligence, domestic policy, and international affairs.  Dr. Dasgupta speaks on federal jurisprudence, the administrative state, international law, national security, trade, and numerous important subjects.

Dr. Dasgupta was honored to serve as a law clerk to Judge Consuelo M. Callahan at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and to Judge David A. Faber at the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.  Dr. Dasgupta earned his Ph.D. in the law of international trade and arbitration at the University of Cambridge.  His book International Interplay: The Future of Expropriation Across International Dispute Settlement offered constructive solutions in this field.  Sohan Dasgupta earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia University; his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley (where he was elected to the Order of the Coif); and his M.Sc. from the University of Oxford.

Dr. Dasgupta is an adjunct law professor at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School.  Furthermore, he is regularly invited to address Parliaments and Congresses (including the Hungarian Parliament, the Romanian Parliament, the Congress of Guatemala, and the Latin American Parliament) on various legal and economic issues.  Dr. Dasgupta has received numerous awards and recognition for his legal and civic contributions.  Dr. Dasgupta maintains an active pro bono practice and is involved with charitable engagements.
