Idaho Division of Financial Management

Alex J. Adams, PharmD, MPH, serves as the Administrator of the Idaho Division of Financial Management. In this capacity, he led the Governor’s zero-based regulation initiative which led Idaho to becoming the least regulated state in the nation, eliminating more than 2,700 pages of regulations.

Dr. Adams previously served as interim director of the Idaho Public Charter School Commission, instituting a full repeal and replacement of all state charter laws and regulations, which led Idaho to be ranked as a Top 10 state for charter schools laws by the Center for Education Reform. Dr. Adams also served as executive director of the Idaho Board of Pharmacy, becoming the first state to allow pharmacists to exercise full, independent prescriptive authority which has since been highlighted as model policy by leading conservative think tanks.

He earned his bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Toledo in Ohio, graduating as class valedictorian, and his Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.
